This is SIYSS
Stockholm International Youth Science Seminar (SIYSS) aims to support and inspire youth to pursue science, by highlighting remarkable achievements of young scientists from around the world. The program is a celebration of young scientific talent and awards science achievements, communication and ambassadorship. By gathering some of the brightest young minds in the scientific community, SIYSS hopes to inspire a young audience by showcasing what it means to be a scientist.
A full week for selected interational participants
SIYSS is considered the world’s most prestigious event for young scientists. Each year, twenty young scientists, aged 18 to 25, are selected at international science fairs and affiliated universities to spend the Nobel Week in Stockholm. The week consists of a full program of intellectual and cultural exchange with science meetings, field trips and social activities. The program also includes science presentations which results in the SIYSS awards for best poster, best oral presentation and the grand prize for most outstandicg scientific achievement.
Apart from introducing participants to Swedish culture, science and research, the program brings together youths from all over the world with similar interests and aims to promote international understanding and friendship.
Swedish high-school students invited to an inspirational day of science
The highlight of the week is the SIYSS seminar day at the movie theatre in central Stockholm. We invite 2,000 Swedish high school students to join the research presentations and discussions, both on stage and as posters. This day also includes the panel discussion Minds of the Future where selected young science ambassadors among the international participants discuss current topics with a guest of honor. Over the years, the guest of honor has been a Nobel Laureate.
